Georgia CPA Ethics Exam

Georgia CPA Ethics Exam Requirements

In Georgia, CPA candidates are not required to pass a separate ethics exam, such as the AICPA Professional Ethics Exam, to obtain licensure. The Georgia State Board of Accountancy does not mandate a pre-licensure ethics exam, as ethics education is instead addressed through continuing professional development.

Licensed CPAs in Georgia must complete 4 hours of ethics-related Continuing Professional Education (CPE) during each two-year renewal cycle, which must include at least 1 hour focused on Georgia laws, rules, and policies. These ethics courses are designed to reinforce professional integrity and ensure that CPAs understand both national standards and state-specific regulatory expectations.

This approach highlights Georgia’s emphasis on ongoing ethical education, ensuring CPAs remain current on professional responsibilities and maintain compliance with evolving standards throughout their careers.
